Technological advances have rapidly developed over the past years, particularly for businesses as we see the vital role these play to the operation of the business.

HR technologies have been expanding and HR professionals need to have an understanding of how these work so they can implement them in their organisations.




We have identified the HR technological trends to look out for in 2021:


1. Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence assist HR with their efficiency and allows HR business functions to be automated.


Artificial Intelligence is used in a range of functions, including recruitment, engagement and HR operations. It has become increasingly popular to use artificial intelligence for scanning resumes to overlook a wider range of candidates and chatbots to communicate more easily and promptly.


The use of Artificial intelligence brings many benefits to organisations, such as increased productivity and improved employee engagement.


2. Employee training/onboarding

Employee training isn’t anything new, but the way it’s being carried out has been changing over the past few years. With technological developments, employee training has adapted to be more digitally focused.


The pandemic has had a massive toll on the HR department, and a rising trend is relying more and more on the digital scene to deliver training, but also online onboarding as well as retraining/upskilling.


This contributes to the removal of geographical barriers and ease accessibility of employing individuals around the globe. Retraining and upskilling have also been key to ensure employees stay up-to-date and adapt to technological developments.


3. Performance

Performance is another aspect that has brought attention to employers and HR professionals, particularly employees’ wellness.


Performance management is becoming a more continuous and regular process through the help of HR technologies such as feedback surveys and performance reviews.


This enables employees to better understand their performance, adapt their goals accordingly and continuously improve.


4. Wellness


With working from home becoming more popular, it is now more important than ever for employers to check on their employees’ wellness (both physical and mental) as it’s important to be able to balance work and life.

Having a healthy team not only creates an engaged and motivated environment, but also improves productivity.


5. HR Information Technology Systems


Technology can help to enhance employee user experience. HR information technology systems are now an integral tool used within the HR department. HRIS allows HR professionals’ efficiently carry out daily tasks.


These systems can store enormous amounts of employees’ information in one place, it also has the capability to utilise enhanced reporting/ analytics functionality amongst other functionality. The use of the HRIS improves processes, automation which will improve accuracy and constancy within the department.
